Master and PhD in Bonn Graduate School of Economics
Students who join the BGSE as students of the
Master program are offered grants of about EUR 800 per
month; doctoral students are offered grants of about EUR
1.100 per month, to cover living expenses during the
first year. Thereafter, grants are provided to students
in good standing.
Students of the BGSE who have a paper accepted at a
conference are provided with travel funds if the
attendance of the conference is endorsed by the
supervisor. Similar funds are available to attend summer
schools.
The BGSE does not raise tuition. Yet most students
register with the University of Bonn as a doctoral
student. Registration costs are approximately € 150 per
term, including a seasonal ticket for public
transportation.
Admission deadline:15 May 2007
Outstanding (top 10%) students with a university degree
in economics or related fields, such as mathematics,
statistics, business administration, accounting, and
finance, are encouraged to apply for admission to the
BGSE. Successful applicants who already hold a Master
degree (or equivalent) are admitted as doctoral students
of the Economics Department of Bonn University;
applicants who only hold a Bachelor join the BGSE as
students of the Master in Economics offered by the
Department and transfer to doctoral status upon
successful completion of the course work required for
the Master degree.
The application requires a form that must be filled in
online as well as a short curriculum vitae,
academic transcripts and two confidential letters
(formless) of recommendation from academic teachers that
must be sent by ordinary mail to the following address:

Applicants who have taken the GRE or the TOEFL should
include a copy of their test scores with their
application. Applications must arrive by May 15 for
entry into the program starting the following October.
The material submitted cannot be returned to the
applicant. Applicants will learn the decision of the
admission committee by June 15.
